A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving after he drove his vehicle into a house in Barrie’s southeast end last night.

Officers responded to the collision call on Birkhall Place, not far from Mapleview Drive east of Yonge Street, just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday night.

The home suffered significant damage to the garage however no injuries were reported, according to police.

“It’s another case of an individual making a poor choice getting behind the wheel when they shouldn’t have, and now somebody else has to deal with the outcome of their actions,” police communications coordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday.

The accused is scheduled to appear in a Barrie courthouse in January.
