Crews attend to a concrete truck which lost its load and was leaking hydraulic fluid into a storm drain near the intersection of Ferndale Drive North and Dunlop Street West on Thursday morning.

An intersection in Barrie’s west end was closed this morning after a concrete truck lost part of its mixer, which led to a hydraulic fluid spill, which is currently being cleaned up by crews.

According to a Barrie Fire official, the truck lost its saddle tank at the intersection of Ferndale Drive North and Dunlop Street West around 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 7.

“A storm drain was affected, so (the city’s) environmental services was called because of that,” Deputy Fire Chief Ed Davis told BarrieToday.

A hazmat vehicle is still on scene and crews are in the midst of a “full cleanup,” he added.

Road closures in the area were still in place around the noon hour to complete the work.
