A North Bay man was arrested early Monday morning after he broke into police headquarters and assaulted an officer.

On June 17 at around 1 a.m., police say a man arrived at North Bay Police Service headquarters on Princess Street West and began forcibly kicking the locked front doors.

The sliding doors broke from their casing and the intruder pushed through and entered police headquarters, according to police.

Three officers grabbed him before he could enter the front lobby, through a second set of doors, police say. The man attacked one of the officers, before being tasered, subdued and taken to the cell-block area, where he was held pending a bail hearing.

Danny Stead, 35, of North Bay, has been charged with breaking and entering and committing an assault.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
