One man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing near the downtown Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, police responded to High Street near Dunlop Street West after a report of an individual who had been injured in an altercation with another man.
Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday the 41-year-old victim was rushed to a local hospital with "serious but non-life threatening" stab wounds.
“Police were able to contain the area and did locate the individual believed to be responsible for the stabbing just before 8:45 a.m.,” said Leon. “He is now at headquarters where the investigation is continuing.”
A 34-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon.
Both men are believed to be from Barrie.
Leon said the incident was isolated in nature and there was no threat to the public.
