Barrie Police have issued the following news release regarding their investigation into allegations that a runner punched a motorist on Jan. 18 near Holly Recreation Centre:

*************************
Barrie Police have concluded their investigation into the incident and it was determined no criminal offence occurred. The male runner was identified and attended to speak to the officer directly.

He confirmed a verbal altercation occurred at the side of the road but when the male opened the car door to exit he pushed the door back and turned to leave, catching up with his running group.

This, police believe, is when the complainant was struck in the face, though not intentionally.

No one received injuries as a result of the incident and all parties received advice from police. Thank you to the public for assistance in identifying the male runner.
