Barrie Police say the area has been checked after reports of a suspicious person and is all clear. The hold and secure has been lifted.
2:37 p.m. update:
Police are searching the area using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
Simcoe County District School Board says students and staff at Hillcrest are safe. Doors are currently locked and no one is allowed to enter or exit the school, but activities continue inside the building, says SCDSB.

Hillcrest Public School has been placed under hold and secure as Barrie Police investigate a suspicious incident in the area.
No further information has been released. Several police vehicles can be seen in the area.
