Barrie police aren’t saying much about a lunchtime incident that saw multiple officers and vehicles, as well as tactical personnel, respond to the downtown call.
Shortly before noon, Tuesday, city police say they received a call for service in the area of Maple Avenue and Ross Street.
BarrieToday contacted police to ask about the heavy police presence in the area.
“The investigation remains ongoing and there is not believed to be a threat to the public," Barrie police communications co-ordinator Jennett Mays said in an email.
“Based on the information that was received, uniform members and the tactical support unit responded," she added.
What that information was has not been released.
Roads in the area were closed for a short period of time, but have since reopened, Mays said.
Mays said no one has been taken into custody.
"Further details will be released only if the investigation permits," she added.
