A church service Sunday in Midland was interrupted a number of times by a man showing signs of intoxication.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers arrived at the Yonge Street church shortly before 10 a.m. after receiving a number of complaints about the man, whom they took into custody.

From there, officers learned that the man was also a suspect in a minor theft from a nearby convenience store and violating probation orders in three other areas of the province.

The accused was being transported by investigating officers to the Niagara Falls area when he allegedly damaged the vehicle's in-car camera system.

Lloyd Thrasher, 32, of no fixed address, has been charged with obstructing a police officer, theft under $5,000, three counts of failing to comply with a probation order and mischief. He's also facing charges for having open liquor and being intoxicated as well as littering.

He is slated to appear in Midland court Nov. 28.
