Innisdale Secondary School students were evacuated for a short time Thursday afternoon after a small fire broke out in a washroom at the south-end Barrie school.

Barrie firefighters arrived at the Little Avenue scene around 1 p.m. to find that school staff had doused the blaze themselves with a fire extinguisher.

Fire crews remained on scene to assist with ventilating the school and wrapped up their efforts shortly after 2 p.m.

Fire Chief Kevin White told BarrieToday the cause of the fire was unknown, but was localized to some trash.

No injuries were reported and students continued with their exams.
