Suspect tries to convert British pounds after break-in on Ottaway Ave. (2 photos)

Police say home on Ottaway Avenue was ransacked Sunday morning, with stolen items including electronics, jewelry and currency

The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a break and enter occurred in the City of Barrie.

On Sunday, July 7, 2019, between 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., a home located on Ottaway Avenue was broken into while the homeowners were away.

Upon return, they discovered that a number of rooms in the house had been ransacked and some currency, electronics and jewlery had been stolen.

The stolen currency was in British pounds and an attempt to exchange it was made at 11 a.m. at a money exchange service located within the Georgian Mall. It was at that time that the suspect, who is described as male white, 25 years of age, with acne scars on his face, brown hair and a beard was clearly captured by video surveillance equipment.
