An ongoing investigation that was conducted by the Barrie Police Service during the month of October concluded yesterday with the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a Montserrand Street residence located in the City of Barrie.
Yesterday afternoon, shortly after 2 p.m., the Barrie Police Street Drug Unit, who were assisted by the Tactical Support Unit, attended the residence which resulted in the initial arrest of 11 people and the seizure of a quantity of drugs.
As the ongoing investigation continued, a second Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at a Hart Drive location during the overnight hours and as a result, four people including a young person have been charged with 20 drug related charges. All four have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie in December.
Police have seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, currency and also a purplish coloured substance which is believed to be purple heroin.
Barrie Police Chief Kimberley Greenwood states “the great work that our service does to rid our streets of the dangerous drugs that plague many communities in Ontario is continuing and it is this work that exemplifies our commitment to the community.
