A dark-coloured sedan was captured on surveillance video in New Tecumseth during the theft of a Toyota Tundra and the attempted thefts of two other Tundras.

NEW TECUMSETH — Provincial police say a "local crime wave" is under investigation in the Alliston area as thieves target Toyota Tundras.

Police are looking for a dark-coloured sedan that was captured on surveillance video driving down one local street where a Tundra was stolen.

Nottawasaga OPP believes the same vehicle was also spotted in front of two homes where suspects attempted to steal two other Tundras that same day.

The first Tundra, a white 2023 pickup truck with the Ontario plate BV26343, was taken at around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5 from a home on Sutcliffe Way.

“The victim reported that video footage from the home shows a dark-coloured sedan was observed passing the residence southbound and, shortly after, it was seen again passing the driveway northbound at a very slow speed,” OPP stated in a news release.

Police say the vehicle then stopped and two occupants exited.

Later that morning, OPP were called to Atkinson Crescent and Patterson Street where a white 2024 Toyota Tundra and black 2025 Toyota Tundra were damaged during apparent attempted overnight thefts.

“Video footage shows the same dark-coloured sedan from the first theft in front of both residences where the two attempts took place,” OPP added.

Anyone with information or additional video surveillance footage is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
