Three men are facing weapon and drug charges after being arrested by city police in downtown Barrie early Friday.
Just before 1 a.m., police received information about two males who had been refused entry to a Dunlop Street East licensed establishment after it was believed one of them was in possession of a firearm.
Police were told the males were last seen walking east on Dunlop Street toward Meridian Place, and based upon the descriptions police were provided, the pair were located along with a third male.
During the police investigation that followed, one of the males was found to be in possession of a semi-automatic pistol and all three were found to be in possession of what are believed to be illegal drugs and substances. Evidence related to drug trafficking was also seized.
The three males were transported to Barrie Police Headquarters, where the investigation continued under the direction of detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division.
