A member of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting assigned traffic enforcement to ensure the safe movement of traffic on Highway 400 Georgian Bay Township on the afternoon of Oct. 22, 2017.
At approximately 2:25 p.m. the officer observed a north bound pickup truck that appeared to be travelling in excess of the posted 100 km/h speed limit near Muskoka Road 33.
The officer obtained a speed reading on the vehicle of 153km/h and was able to stop the vehicle and obtain the drivers particulars.
As a result of the traffic stop, a 17-year-old male driver from northern Ontario was issued a summons for Provincial Court in Penetanguishene for a future date along with the pickup truck being towed and impounded for one week.
