Mooshfood Supermarket is an African Caribbean (West Indian) Groceries store in Barrie. The store launched online in 2019, sells a variety of items including food, spices, sauces, clothing items, and more. In July of 2020 they upgraded to a physical store and just recently moved to a bigger location at 285 Dunlop St West.

Moosh Wale with his wife Grace own and operate the store, and came up with an idea of having African and Caribbean grocery store when they found it hard to get the food they needed themselves. They soon realized that more people in the area were going through a similar challenge of finding authentic African and Caribbean grocery items.
“We had to drive so far away from Barrie to get the things we wanted. We had to stock up on food needed for months and that was expensive. You can’t just drive 60 min-70 min to go get $15 spice or grains you are craving for. Then we decided to open up a store in Barrie so that we could provide something close for everyone,” said Grace.
Since the opening of the store so many African families have moved into the city and its surroundings
“We have helped a few people buying their homes in Barrie, we’ve gotten several testimonies from our customers that the moment they search for an African groceries store in Barrie and could find Mooshfood, it’s helped them make the final decision in moving to Barrie,” said Grace
“I am so glad that the decision we made to open up the store even at our toughest time brought so much joy and relief to so many people,” she added.

The store also has all kinds of spices, sauces, and seasonings from around the world. Most of the items are imported from Africa and Caribbean directly, while some from wholesale markets in Toronto or surrounding areas. It also offers customers to do online shopping for items they need. The food products are natural and originally sourced from Africa and they hold many health benefits.
“We provide 100% African groceries close to you and at your doorstep. We have a variety of African food, prepared meals and we also sell African attires so you never forget what home looks like,” said Wale.
The store not only serves the Barrie community but Canada wide through their nationwide shipping and local deliveries.
