Have you been following the tiny home craze online and wonder what it's like to live in 280 square feet or less? Here's your chance to give it a shot!
There are more and more tiny homes available to rent by the day, weekend, or week, on airbnb these days. These range from definitely rustic (think one room, no heat, no hydro, and an outhouse), to elegant (think hydro, luxurious bathroom and fancy kitchen).
Some are in the forest, some in the country, and there are even some close to town. Some are new, modern, and architect designed; others…not so much. Some boast about amenities and things to do, and others are all about relaxing and recharging off-grid.
Here are just a few examples. Come along and dream!
Artsy "glamping" experience in Castleton
This one falls under architect designed, but basic. As you can see from the photos, it’s gorgeous, but with an outhouse and no indoor running water, it’s basic as well. If glamping in 30 acres of wilderness in a tres chic dwelling is your jam, this one’s for you. Also, close to the artsy village of Warkworth if you are an arts lover.
Small space, big memories in Campbellford
This cute cabin is on the other end of the scale. Basic in looks, but with full amenities including a regular toilet and indoor shower. Hallelujah! The tiny cabin includes the kitchen, with bar fridge and no oven, and overall size: 380 square feet and sleeps four. Located near Campbellford, this one could be a great way to get your tiny home feet wet!
Cozy, comfortable and close in St. Catharines
Here is a true tiny home. Classic in looks, with a loft sleeping area, but a great kitchen, composting toilet inside as well as a shower and it’s located in wine country, in the Niagara area.
Imagine yourself sitting on the stoop of your tiny home, sipping a delicious glass of Reisling. This is what tiny home dreams are made of! Enjoy!
Cabin at Fernwood HIlls in Komoka
The Cabin at Fernwood Hills offers a peaceful hideaway against the tranquil backdrop of nature. Admire the forest scenery through expansive windows as you spend a cozy evening in your own private sanctuary. This retreat is perfect for romantic getaways, proposals, anniversaries or the chance to simply disconnect.
The living space tops out at 107 square feet. There is no washroom in the cabin but is located a short distance away.
Elm 8 Cabin: Tiny home glamping in Gooderham
Finally, hidden in the Haliburton Highlands, Elm 8 Cabin offers a private getaway for outdoor enthusiasts. The cozy mini-lodge sits inside the forest and offers a lounge area, kitchenette, dining space (indoors and out) and a fire pit. A double bed is located in the loft which offers a great view of the trees.
The space is set up to offer a relaxing, turn-key camping experience.
