Book lovers rejoice! A new, bigger and better book store is coming to Georgian Mall.
Melissa Perri, senior manager of public relations for Indigo, confirmed to BarrieToday that a new Indigo will be opening at the north-end Barrie mall later this fall.
The store, which will be located at the top of the escalators on the second level in the former Urban Kids locations, will boast approximately 11,000 square feet of space — which is nearly four times the size of the existing Coles location, she said.
“It will feature an array of books, gifts and lifestyle products across many categories, including the best of our tabletop, décor, wellness, tea and coffee, and stationery, as well as an expanded toy, games and puzzles and baby assortment,” said Perri.
The new location will serve as the second location in Barrie. The other store is located on Mapleview Drive West in the south end, near Barrie View Drive.
“In addition, as part of our normal business practices, we regularly review and optimize our real estate portfolio," Perri said. "We consider many factors when we make these decisions, and the opportunity arose to move into a bigger space in the mall.
"After 29 wonderful years, Georgian Mall Coles will close to the public on Sept. 28, 2023," she added
Twenty employees will staff the new Indigo store, including existing Coles employees, Perri said.
An official grand opening date for the new store has not yet been finalized.
