Sandra passed away one year ago, our family could not imagine how we were going to get by without her. We have since realized that she built such a solid, loving and resilient family that we can get through anything together. She showed us how to be brave, strong and gracious in impossible situations while never losing our sense of humour.
Despite the aching loss we’ve grappled with this past year, we also feel so lucky to have had Sandra for the time that we did. We continue to find comfort in hearing her signature laugh in our heads when we see something we know she would have found funny, in hearing her voice telling us to “be safe” when the weather turns bad and in seeing her kindness, compassion and healthy dose of sassiness in each other.
Sandra’s beautiful legacy lives on in countless ways as our family strives to make those around us feel the way she always made each of us feel; cherished, loved unconditionally and like the best versions of ourselves. Her remarkable example is one we’ll always honour as we never stop missing and loving her.
