Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following is an open letter to Coun. Jim Harris about city council's plans for an artificial youth sports field and parade grounds along the city's southern shore, which has been met by controversy.

I suggest that you look into the feasibility to have the proposed sports facility on the south shore located instead in Huronia North Park.

Huronia North Park is located east of Huronia Road between Big Bay Point Road and Little Avenue. At present, there are nine soccer fields plus some uncleared areas. There is also a parking lot for over 100 cars. I believe that the Barrie Soccer Club uses the fields.

It appears that there is sufficient space for two adjoining fields to be converted to one field with stands and auxiliary facilities and that a new field could be created in the uncleared area.
