On Saturday, June 8, 2024, COPE Service Dogs, with top-dog sponsor McDonald’s Canada, will take to St. Vincent Park in Barrie for their annual Buddy Up event.

The walk encourages the community to come together to raise funds for COPE Service Dogs’ Canines in the Classroom, Reading Buddy and Service Dog programs, which benefit high school students facing barriers and people living with physical disabilities.

The event starts at 9:30 a.m. and will include a three-kilometre walk, along with many fun activities for all ages including live music, caricature drawings, glitter tattoos, a cornhole station, Paw Patrol mascot and a meet-and-greet with COPE Service Dogs.

After the walk, participants can grab a hot and fresh slice of pizza donated by Domino’s Pizza in Barrie.

“It is a great way to bring people and dogs together to raise money for this important organization,” says Jo-Anne Lane, a member of COPE Service Dogs’ board of directors. “With 100 per cent of the profits going directly into life-changing programs for high school students and people with disabilities, you know that your efforts are making a tangible difference.”

This year it’s even easier to get involved, with the option of picking your favourite COPE dog and fundraising, donating directly to Buddy Up or simply registering to walk. COPE Service Dogs is also proud to partner with the Toronto Maple Leafs to recognize fundraisers, with the potential to win two tickets to a regular-season Toronto Maple Leafs home game for the 2024-25 season.

With every $100 raised on individual fundraising pages, participants will receive one ballot with their name on it for a chance to win.
