Angela Doyon was one of the lucky winners in the Rogers National Customer Contest and will be heading to see Taylor Swift in Toronto tonight (Nov. 22) with her husband, Mike.

A Barrie woman is one of the lucky few thousand fans who will get to cross attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour off her bucket list.

Angela Doyon will be attending tonight’s show at the Rogers Centre in Toronto with her husband, Mike, after winning tickets through the Rogers National Customer Contest.

Doyon, a self-published children’s author, learned the news on Tuesday and says she's beyond excited to get to attend the show on Friday night.

“Oh my gosh, I am so pumped. I just can’t believe that I am one of the Rogers contest winners," she says. "I almost didn’t answer the phone when it rang, but I am so glad I did."

The couple will also be celebrating their 13th wedding anniversary this weekend, a number which is also well known among 'Swifties' to be the pop star’s lucky number.

Doyon says she's "beyond grateful" to the telecommunications giant.

"I know how hot these tickets are," she says. "I’ll enjoy every moment with every fan there.

"This is a bucket-list (item). It’s equivalent to when our parents saw the Beatles and I’ll be able to say that I went to the Eras Tour," Doyon adds.

Doyon has even created her own custom T-shirt to wear to the concert tonight.

Friday night's show will be the second time she will have had the chance to see her favourite singer perform live. She saw Swift open for Brad Paisley nearly 20 years ago, and recalls being “deeply impressed” by the then-15-year-old singer with the blue rhinestone boots and guitar.

Doyon says one of the things she admires most about Swift is her storytelling abilities, adding right now her two favourite songs are All Too Well (the extended version) and You’re On Your Own, Kid, which she hopes the singer will include as a surprise addition at the show.

“She’s a great storyteller and her last few albums really resonated with me," Doyon says. "She is so compelling and original with her craft of telling impactful stories from her own life experiences. I love anyone who can use their real life to enable connection with others."

Doyon also says the singer is an impressive role model for women and girls of all ages.

“She teaches young women to take ownership and empower themselves by carving out and making their own paths," Doyon says. "She will lead a renaissance of young girls who will stick together and support each other.”

As the presenting sponsor of the tour in Canada, Rogers hosted the National Customer Contest, which kicked off in August and gave away 35 pairs of tickets every week.

The final draw for Toronto shows just ended this week, which resulted in 16 winners in total from Barrie and surrounding communities since the contest was launched. It received more than one million entries from customers and fans.

"We're all about bringing our customers the best entertainment experiences and Taylor Swift is the best of the best. We’ve had an amazing response to our Taylor Swift contests, and we’re thrilled for the winners in Barrie and right across the country,” stated a Rogers official.
