Get ready to satisfy your sweet cravings and experience butter tart bliss like never before!

Downtown Barrie invites you to indulge in a taste-tifying Saturday on July 13, filled with over 75 butter tart makers, bakers, and a variety of craft and retail vendors.

Including award-winning bakeries from across Ontario, such as Doo Doo's with their classic butter tarts, maple whisky, chocolate peanut butter and maple bacon will satisfy your sweet tooth.

Presented by Gotta Luv ButterTarts in collaboration with the Downtown Barrie BIA, the inaugural Butter Tart Festival promises a delightful day along Dunlop Street and Meridian Place. Explore a variety of booths offering local crafts, artisanal foods, and merchandise including fun filled activities including face painting.

Admission is free.

"Gather your friends and family and join us for a day of sweet indulgence and community spirit. The Butter Tart Festival is not just about enjoying delicious treats; it's about celebrating the local community, supporting small businesses, and sharing a love for one of Canada's most iconic desserts,” remarks Helen Prucha, Gotta Luv Buttertarts owner and event co-ordinator.

Considering the original butter tart recipe can be traced to the RVH Auxiliary in 1903, the Butter Tart and More Festival will be supporting and raising funds for the RVH Keep Life Wild Campaign. Grateful for the opportunity, the RVH Foundation emphasizes the significance of this fundraiser in sustaining essential health-care services close to home.

“RVH has been caring for the community for over 120 years,” says Mary-Anne Frith, chair of the Keep Life Wild Campaign and vice-chair of the RVH Foundation board of directors. “As our community continues to grow, we also need to expand so we can keep providing the exceptional care we're known for, right here where we live, work, and raise our families.

"We're thrilled that the Barrie Butter Tart Festival is paying tribute to RVH's history and helping us prepare for the future with this sweet fundraiser.”

As anticipation builds for downtown to be filled with sugary sweetness, Heather Kennedy, BIA chair and owner of Shop Blueberry Moon, shares her excitement.

"The Downtown Barrie BIA is honoured to facilitate this fundraiser, aligning with RVH's rich legacy intertwined with our community. We anticipate a sweet turnout for this event, as Barrie's 'sweet tooth' is legendary, and our downtown businesses offer some of the most tantalizing butter tarts around."

Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and prepare to embark on a butter tart adventure like no other. In addition to the delectable treats, the Open Air Dunlop Butter Tarts & More Festival will feature a live music performance by Terra Lightfoot at 7 p.m. in Meridian Place, promising an unforgettable evening under the stars.
