Now in its 40th year, the annual Lobsterfest takes place on Saturday, June 2 at Eastview Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m. and you will dance through the decades with live music from The Desotos.

Guests will enjoy fresh East Coast Lobster and a non-seafood menu is also available. This is another fundraising initiative put on by the Barrie Huronia Rotary Club.

This event is known as the “first party of the summer” and invites you to sit back and enjoy a full evening while all the work is done for you!

“Lobsterfest is a great way to kick off summer with your family and friends or staff and clients. Decorate your table and your guests and you could win a prize courtesy of The Party Store,” said Maria Weber Cernak, Lobsterfest co-chair.

Tickets are $75 each and are available online.

“Our Rotary Club volunteer members will be busy handling 1,200 lbs of lobster that is flown in on the day of the event from the East Coast. Our lobsters are chilled, not frozen resulting in a more succulent flavour for our guests. Completing the menu is roast pork, hot veggies and a variety of summer salads plus dessert and coffee,” Mike Fulton, Lobsterfest co-chair explains. “All of this plus live entertainment and a chance to win prizes is the best value for only $75.”

The Desotos band is made up of six talented musicians and singers who have been together for over 25 years. Within The Desotos are four members of the legendary Martels. Special guests are vocalist Madeleine French and Russ Strathdee, aka Dr. Sax, also former members of The Martels.

One hundred per cent of proceeds raised go back into the community. Proceeds this year will support the RVH Foundation Hearts and Mind Campaign and other local Rotary projects. Lobsterfest has raised over $750,000 since its inception 40 years ago.
