Another swim advisory has been at Barrie's Centennial Beach.

Based on water sample results taken Tuesday, Aug. 23, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has recommended that an advisory be posted at the popular local beach due to high bacteria levels. City staff have posted advisory signs and will be re-sampling the beach today (Aug. 24).

This marks the third time this summer an advisory has been posted at Centennial. Previous advisories were issued on Aug. 8 (lifted on Aug. 11) and July 20 (lifted July 22).

During a swim advisory, signs are posted to indicate recent water samples show bacteria levels that may increase risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness. If you choose to swim during an advisory, health officials recommend you avoid dunking your head or swallowing the water.
