NEWS RELEASE
PROBUS CLUB OF BARRIE
*************************

What are these senior citizens doing in the upper meeting room of the Barrie branch of the Royal Canadian Legion on a Thursday morning of every month?

Why, they’re having the time of their lives, of course —with fellowship, speakers and slideshows, inexpensive bus trips and, naturally, lots of coffee and good conversation.

Once retired, these seniors have come to the conclusion that it’s time to stimulate the intellect, and participate in community events at a time in life when it is so easy to become passive and complacent, and just observe the passing scene.

The Barrie-Kempenfelt Probus Club was formed two decades ago to provide regular gatherings to those who, in retirement, appreciate and value opportunities to meet others in comparable circumstances.

Gay Welsman, the club’s outgoing president recently stated: “In PROBUS one finds a wealth of new experiences and a much expanded social network. Opportunities abound with awesome guest speakers, a broad range of interesting activities and social events, stimulating conversation and the chance to explore one’s community, Canada and the world with new friends.”

If you would like to inquire further into the Probus experience, visit the club website at: http://spearinb.wix.com/barrie-kempenfelt or drop into a special Open House on

Thursday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 410 St. Vincent St., using the entrance on Ferris Lane. or contact Robert Newby, Chief Information Officer, at 705-791-1099.
