Jarlette Health Services is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the Employer Award in Excellence, presented by WeRPN at a ceremony at Roberta Place Retirement Lodge, in Barrie, on Nov. 12, 2024.

The retirement home is one of eight operated by Jarlette Health Services throughout Ontario in small- to medium-sized communities.

The award recognizes employers that demonstrate outstanding achievement in improving the utilization of registered practical nurses (RPNs) in innovative and creative ways. This award also celebrates employers which foster a multidisciplinary team environment for all health-care workers and maintain a safe, respectful and empowering work environment where RPNs can exercise their full scope of knowledge, skills and leadership.

Josephine Wilson, who led the celebration on behalf of her RPN colleagues from across the organization, thanked WeRPN for acknowledging the invaluable contributions of our team of RPNs, who are directly involved in the day-to-day care of residents, as well as in leadership roles in our care communities and the organization’s senior team. The celebration was attended by residents, family members, team members and representatives of WePRN and the Alzheimer Society.

In the spirit of contributing to the well-being of our residents, Jarlette Health Services donated the monetary portion of the award to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County in recognition of its support to residents living with dementia and their family members.

This event was not only a celebration but also an opportunity to raise awareness about the passion, skills and knowledge that our RPN team brings to their work every day. The gathering highlighted the leadership and unique contributions that our RPNs make to the care and well-being of residents across Jarlette Health Services’ care community throughout Ontario.

“On behalf of the Jarlette Health Services family of long-term care and retirement lodges, thank you for recognizing our family-led organization with the WeRPN Employer Award. We are very proud of the important role of registered practical nurses in our healthcare teams and sincerely appreciate their passion, skills and knowledge, as well as their leadership and all their unique contributions, in each of our communities. Thank you to the WeRPN for helping us to celebrate and bring greater awareness of their invaluable role and all that RPNs mean to our residents," said Josephine Wilson, RPN, wellness manager at The Villa Retirement Lodge (Midland).

“Jarlette Health Services exemplifies how innovative utilization of RPNs can lead to better patient outcomes and a stronger, more collaborative health-care environment. By empowering RPNs to take on leadership roles and fully leverage their expertise, Jarlette is setting a standard for excellence in care. We are proud to recognize their commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and multidisciplinary workplace where RPNs thrive and residents benefit," said Dianne Martin, RPN, CEO, WeRPN.

“We are pleased to be celebrating our community partner, Jarlette Health Services, on being recognized by WeRPN with the Employer Award in Excellence, to which we are grateful to be the recipient of a generous donation through their achievement. RPNs are integral to multi-disciplinary teams in offering comprehensive, quality care and we applaud the approach they’ve taken to integrate the leadership and skillset of these healthcare professionals into their teams. Our sincere congratulations to leadership and staff of Jarlette Health Services for their continuous enhancement of person-centred care," said Ann-Marie Kungl, CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County.
