The Barrie Public Library (BPL) is excited to celebrate the two-year anniversary of our Holly location.

With 52,683 checkouts and 6,976 members who call Holly their home branch, it’s safe to say this new location has made an impact over the last two years.

“As we approach the second anniversary of the Holly location, the continued (and growing) community support is evident from both the increased foot traffic through the doors and our staggering program numbers,” said Darcy Glidden, manager of community libraries.

In the past two years, more than 17,000 people have taken part in the 1,139 programs that have run at the Holly library.

“We have added to our traditional early literacy programs and introduced a very successful Mahjong Club,” continues Glidden. “Many community members are still just discovering us — the number of new card registrations has blossomed with the launch of the Summer Reading Club.”

BPL will be hosting a second-anniversary party on Friday, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Holly library, located at 555 Essa Rd. in Barrie. The Holly Anniversary Party will be full of family-friendly fun including dragon crafts, face painting, and the outdoor BPL Discovery Area. Be sure to sign up for a library card when you’re here — new members will receive a sweet treat from Tim Hortons (while supplies last).

Holly has an amazing range of collections, services, spaces, and programs available. With over 30,000 titles for kids, teens and adults, there is a massive selection of books, movies, and magazines you can borrow. We also have laptops you can use while you’re here, a printer and copier, workspaces, a bookable meeting room, and a kids area.
