BREAKING: Heavy police presence at Mapleview, Yonge for 'person in crisis'

There is a heavy police presence tonight near Mapleview Drive East and Yonge Street for a "person in crisis."

Barrie police, including tactical officers, appeared to be focused on area around St. Paul's Anglican Church, near the GO train tracks.

A BarrieToday reporter at the scene says roads are blocked off the area around the scene. 

"We have a situation where there is a person in crisis and we are working to resolve it with the required and necessary resources being utilized," Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday around 7:40 p.m.

"The area is safely contained," he added. 

No other details have been released about the situation or what led to it.
