Cadets from 53 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Barrie, 2919 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, 102 Barrie Silver Fox Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, and Navy League Cadet Corps Chambly, will take part in the candlelight vigil prior to Remembrance Day ceremonies.

The vigil will start with lighting of candles to signify Canadian soldiers lost. The candles are then be placed around the base of the cenotaph to burn throughout the vigil, accompanied by a five-person honour guard, according to a news release.

The cadets will participate in the city’s Remembrance Day ceremony on Nov. 11 following the vigil.

Each November, cadets from across the country participate in Remembrance Day ceremonies and activities, as a way to acknowledge the bravery and sacrifice of those who served our country and acknowledge our duty to work for the peace they fought hard to attain.
