The late Will Dwyer was deeply committed to making a difference in our community. He was an avid fundraiser, a proud Second World War veteran and an esteemed member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
For decades, he tirelessly supported the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research, raising an impressive $1.2 million.
Will's journey as a fundraiser began in 1980 when he was inspired by Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope and he continued his efforts until his passing at the age of 96 in 2022.
Even as his health declined, Will remained dedicated to his cause, participating in the Terry Fox Run annually and knocking on more than 1,200 doors every year to raise funds.
He was also deeply committed to the legion and used his talent for fundraising to launch a successful poppy campaign on Remembrance Day, raising over $140,000.
Will's charitable spirit did not end with his passing. After his death, some of his medical equipment was sold and the proceeds were donated to the legion and the Terry Fox Run in his name.
Through his selfless acts, Will not only supported local organizations but also touched countless lives with his positivity.
His legacy lives on through his son, who has taken up the torch to continue his father's work and aims to reach the impressive milestone of two million dollars.
Will's commitment and perseverance have left an indelible mark, inspiring many others to give back and make a difference in the causes that matter most to them.
