NEWS RELEASE
LIVING GREEN BARRIE
*************************
Living Green Barrie, a passionate local environmental charity, is excited to announce the return of the Pine Tree Real Estate 2024 Halloween Community Tree Planting.

Join us on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. at Pringle Park (30 Pringle Dr., Barrie) for a fun-filled day of planting native species trees and Halloween festivities. Event is free but pre-registration is required via the Living Green Barrie website.

Planting trees in the fall offers significant advantages. With cooler temperatures and more predictable rainfall, young trees have the best chance to establish roots and thrive. This event supports Barrie’s growing urban canopy, helping to create cleaner air, and enhance the city’s green spaces.

As always, costumes are encouraged, and those wearing a costume will have their name put into a hat for a chance to win prizes. This family-friendly event aims to educate the community on proper tree-planting techniques while providing a festive Halloween atmosphere.

Event details:

Date: Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: Pringle Park, 30 Pringle Dr., Barrie
What to bring: reusable water bottles, long pants, closed-toed footwear, and costumes.
Cost: Free, with donations welcome to support Living Green Barrie’s ongoing environmental efforts.

Barrie South Lions will be supporting this event again this year. They will have hot drinks and water available. The club will be bringing Halloween treats for all to enjoy.

To help reduce waste, please bring your own reusable containers for hot and cold beverages.

Special thanks to our presenting sponsor, Pine Tree Real Estate Brokerage Inc., for continuing to help us reach our goal of planting #10,000TreesForBarrie.

Why this matters: Tree planting plays a critical role in enhancing Barrie’s urban canopy, which improves air quality, provides shade, and increases biodiversity. Events like these also foster community engagement and environmental stewardship, showing that we can all contribute to a greener, healthier city.
