Care about the long-term health of Cookstown’s water system?
Then you may want to attend the public information centre planned for the Cookstown Water Pollution Control Plant Class Environmental Assessment, which is happening at the Cookstown branch of the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library on Nov. 6.
The meeting will provide an overview of the Class EA process, study area, existing wastewater servicing, future needs, and alternative solutions under consideration.
Residents are invited to drop in, view displays and provide feedback.
The purpose of the Class EA is to identify a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable approach to wastewater servicing for Cookstown, as well as the employment and residential area at highways 400 and 89, until 2051.
Additional wastewater servicing capacity is required to accommodate the population and job growth outlined in Innisfil’s Official Plan.
However, development in the village is currently hindered by existing sanitary sewer capacity.
This meeting will be hosted by InnServices, the town’s utility provider.
“The PIC will also detail next steps in the Class EA process and provide interested parties the opportunity to get involved and provide input,” InnServices said in a meeting notice.
Cookstown’s library is at 20 Church St. and the centre runs from 4-7 p.m. For more details, visit innservices.co.
