Downtown Barrie has been radiant with perfect fall weather, brilliant colours, and a season full of lively community events.
This year’s Open Air Meridian events series has been lots of fun, including Culture Days, Thanksgiving, and the Halloween/Ofrenda celebration, which filled the downtown with a blend of arts, heritage, and family fun.
Bringing our community together through upcoming events
Looking ahead, we invite everyone to the area’s largest Remembrance Day ceremony on Nov. 11, held in Memorial Square at Meridian Place.
Soon after, downtown Barrie will transform into a festive wonderland on Nov. 16 with the Noella Tree Lighting Celebration in partnership with the Barrie chamber Santa Claus Parade, Rotary Festival of Trees and the City of Barrie’s festive decor and fireworks. This weekend includes live music, a festive vendor market, a tree lot, ornament art activities, inflatables, and more, plus a stunning fireworks show to kick off the holiday season.
Celebrating new businesses opening in downtown Barrie
Along with the arrival of the fall colours has brought along an arrival of new businesses in downtown Barrie. Be sure to check out the following local owned and operated businesses including:
- Downtown’s long-awaited grocery store, Kennedy’s Lakeside Grocery.
- A new holistic focused pharmacy The Medicine Shoppe.
- A new bakery, Butter Bay.
- New restaurants Buddha Express, Minh’s Vietnamese, Vegholic and Punjabi Chaap.
- Sober Sips is moving to a new location. Ilsa Manilla reopened. TAJ Bistro has expanded.
- LvxBeauty Medi Spa is now open.
