If you’ve been afraid to pick up your garden shears since the mess you made on your weigela shrub, then the next expert speaker at the Barrie Garden Club (BGC) is someone you need to hear from. Master gardener Joan Nieman-Agapas presents “Pruning for the Faint of Heart” at the BGC’s September 10 meeting, a discussion that will instill you with confidence and inspiration.

“The objectives are to increase gardeners’ confidence so that they can prune their plants to improve appearance, bloom times and longevity,” says Nieman-Agapas. “Pruning doesn’t have to be a mystery or a misery and it absolutely makes all the difference in your garden.”

Nieman-Agapas has been a member of the Simcoe County Master Gardeners since 2006. Her interest in gardening took root in 1986 with the purchase of a home with a backyard slope and a huge old oak tree. She is passionate about shade plants, especially hellebores.

The meeting takes place Tuesday, September 10 at 7 p.m. at the ANAF Club, 52 Morrow Rd., Barrie. This expert speaker is free to BGC members, and only $5 for non-members.
