The annual Shipyard Social at the Collingwood museum will again bring together former workers for a reunion and time to reminisce.

Saturday, Sept. 7 marks the eighth annual Shipyard Social, which will again begin with the "Hardhats on Hurontario" march from town hall to the museum.

Anyone who worked at the shipyards is encouraged to bring their hardhats if they still have them (others are available at the museum) and join the parade. There will be a courtesy cart for those who need a ride for the procession and scooters and assistive devices are welcome.

The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 7, and participants are asked to gather at town hall at 11 a.m.

At noon, sharp, there will be a group photograph taken of all the former shipyard employees who gather at this year's social.

The rest of the afternoon is reserved for conversation and stories about the shipyards. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The museum also has several exhibits on the shipyards ready for viewing at the social, including photographs by George Czerny-Holownia, and a slideshow of photos from past Shipyard Socials.

Admission is free and food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Parking will be available at the Collingwood Museum, as well as the HarbourEdge Centre at 40 Huron St.

The Town of Collingwood’s courtesy cart will be available to assist with transportation to and from the site.
