Barrie firefighters contained a blaze to a Barre Drive garage Friday night in the south end.
Fire crews were called to a house at about 7 p.m. and found a garage that was fully involved in flames.
“It was mostly contained in the garage,” said Assistant Deputy Fire Chief Justin Gilbert. “No fire extended to the house, but there was smoke damage to the house.”
A vehicle in the garage at the time was also damaged.
The cause is still being investigated by Barrie Fire and Emergency Service.
“Early determination is a heater in the garage, but the cause is still being determined, as well as the dollar loss,” Gilbert said. “No one was hurt. There’s tenants who lived there. One was home at the time of the fire and was able to safely evacuate with no injuries.”
Barre Drive is located north of Beach Crescent, south of D’Ambrosio Drive, in southeast Barrie.
