Walking and driving could be dicey with more snow on the way. For your Sunday, a pretty sunrise sky at the waterfront from this past week. Sue Sgambati/BarrieToday

Squall watch ended. Special weather statement in effect.

Cloudy, snow beginning early this afternoon, about 2 cm and a high -2.

Here are the details of the special weather statement:

4:45 AM EST Sunday 11 December 2016

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago
  • Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus

A total of 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected.

Snow will begin over Southwestern Ontario this morning and will reach Eastern Ontario by late this afternoon.

Current information suggests the precipitation will fall primarily as snow, but with a possibility of changing over to rain early Monday morning near the shores of the Great Lakes.

The timing of this snowfall will likely have an impact on the Monday morning commute.

This snowfall is due to a developing Colorado low that will track towards the Great Lakes today.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor the track of this low and snowfall amounts.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
