A freezing rain warning remains in effect for our area after a blast of overnight snow and strong winds.
An intense low pressure system from Texas continues to track towards the Great Lakes today, according to Environment Canada.
A warm front associated with this low will produce a band of freezing rain before it changes to rain this morning.
Environment Canada says the freezing rain may be mixed with ice pellets at times with ice accumulations possible of 5 to 10 mm.
Highways, roads, sidewalks and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous, says the warning.
Motorists are urged to adjust driving with changing road conditions.
Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break and power outages, says Environment Canada.
