The Georgian Grizzlies men’s basketball team played their final game of the season on Saturday when they took on the Redeemer Royals in the consolation final of the 2019 belairdirect OCAA Men’s Basketball Championship hosted by Georgian College in Barrie.
Georgian put their heart into yet another game at the Championship tournament and the Grizzlies delivered a huge fourth quarter comeback to win the match 72-65.
The Grizzlies erased a nine point deficit heading into the fourth quarter where they scored 28 points in the final frame alone.
Daniel Martyn (Barrie) played yet another solid game for the Grizzlies shooting 6-of-8 from the field and scored 15 points in the game to be named player of the game.
Georgian’s veterans had a big day in their final collegiate game with Anthony Meggo (Whitby) scoring 27 points while Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) had an 18 point performance.
The win gives the Grizzlies a final standing of fifth place in the OCAA, which is Georgian’s highest finish in men’s basketball history as they finish the Championship with a 2-1 record.
