The waterfront is about to come alive with the sights and sounds of the 47th annual Kempenfest. While construction has changed the layout and forced organizers to reduce the number of vendors, there is perfect weather in the forecast and thousands are expected to enjoy the festivities.

To make the days a little more fun, utilize the free Park ‘n Ride Shuttles and ride the free Waterfront Shuttle from one end of the event to the other.

Waterfront Shuttle

Kempenfest provides three free shuttles around the event area and the downtown core. Waterfront Shuttles run from 9 a.m. to 6:30 pm throughout the weekend and all stops are marked with Kempenfest Shuttle signs.

There are four stops along the waterfront:

  • Lakeshore Drive at Minets Point Road
  • Southshore Community Centre
  • Lakeshore Drive at Tiffin Street
  • Lakeshore Drive at Victoria Street (Centennial Beach)

Buses connect to the Barrie Transit Terminal on Maple Avenue, stop at the Curling Club Park ‘n Ride lot, and loop back to Lakeshore to start the route again.

Park ‘n Ride Shuttles

Park for free and take advantage of  Kempenfest Park ‘n Ride Shuttles from three spots:

  • Barrie Curling Club on Essa Road just off Hwy. 400 (175 Essa Road)
  • Allandale Recreation Centre (190 Bayview Drive)
  • Bayfield Mall (320 Bayfield Street)

Shuttles operate from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day and all stops are marked with Kempenfest Shuttle signs.  The Park ‘n Ride Shuttles drop-off and pick-up passengers at the Victoria Street/Centennial stop where they link to the Waterfront Route.  The last return shuttle leaves the event at 6:30 p.m.
