NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF BARRIE
*************************
From Dec. 10 until Feb. 28, the City of Barrie welcomed entries from youth sharing why they love Barrie. The sixth annual I Love Barrie contest was open to all elementary and secondary school-aged students in the city.
“Once again this year, contest participants went above and beyond to share their love of Barrie," says Ward 10 Coun. Mike McCann. “The artwork, written submissions and photos showcase student work and talent, and the work that educators put in to collaborate on classroom entries shows their dedication to the profession. My hope is that this contest connects, inspires and brings fun to all that participate!"
The 2022 I Love Barrie contest winners are:
Artwork winner: Elyse Evans Connell, Grade 5, École élémentaire catholique Frère-André
Written piece winner: Grade 8 students (Mr. Kwiatkowski's class), Saint Gabriel The Archangel Catholic School
Photo winner: William Howcroft, Grade 10, St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School
Class winner: Grade 5 students (Ms. Gronfors' class), Timothy Christian School
Honourable mention: Grade 4 students (Mrs. Gray's class), Algonquin Ridge Elementary School
The winners' names will be shared in The Barrie Advance in the City's This Week in Barrie feature later this month. The top four winners will also be guests at an upcoming Barrie City Council meeting and their winning pieces will be featured on the City's flag series this spring.
The winning entries can be viewed at barrie.ca/MyBarrie.
