If you know a bad driver in Barrie and are accustomed to reckless, distracted, irresponsible, white-knuckle motoring - Canada's Worst Driver wants to hear from you.

Producers from the Discovery Channel program are coming to Barrie at the end of March or early April to meet with potential candidates for a new season.

"We put out this call to everyone in Barrie, saying 'Hey, send us a nomination. Tell us about the bad driver in your life," said casting director Meredith Veats.

The producers will follow up with all the nominations and book interviews and short drives with potential candidates for the show.

"Fun 'slash' dangerous," said Veats of the drives. "We see for ourselves how bad the drivers are and how we might be able to help them through the program of course. That's the other thing.  We want drivers who really need some improvement and how we can help them."

Once on the show, contestants will be evaluated by a panel of driving experts, then undergo state-of-the-art training to overhaul their driving skills.

As always, riding shotgun will be the friend, spouse, relative, sibling, co-worker, or neighbour who nominated the disastrous driver.

Eight finalists will earn a spot to spend a couple of weeks this summer at the Driver Rehabilitation Centre outside Toronto for the filming.

Typically the search for bad drivers targets about 12 communities across Canada.

"We chose Barrie. We haven't had a lot of people on the show from Barrie so heading into the 13th season we've targeted some places where maybe we haven't seen a lot of candidates on the show," Veats explained.

"Ultimately we're really looking for the best of the worst - or the worst of the worst.  If five of the worst drivers were in Barrie we'd take them all. We don't have a predetermined number."

And don't be shy about why you think you know the worst driver in Barrie.

Producers are looking for all different types of bad drivers.

"Some drivers are bad because they're really nervous. Some drivers are poor drivers because they're distracted.  So we want to have a range but we really just want the worst drivers and we want to be able to help them," she said.

Casting has begun and nominations are currently being accepted at www.canadasworstdriver.ca until March 30, 2017.
