The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) continues its cross-province 'The Ontario We Need' tour next week with a stop in Barrie.

The OFL has been holding a series of town halls featuring president Laura Walton, with stops from Ottawa to Thunder Bay and cities in between.

“From the cost-of-living to the health-care crisis to overcrowded classrooms, we know people in this province are struggling,” Walton says in a release. “More importantly, we know the solutions can be found in our communities. That’s why we’re travelling across the province to hear from community members.”

The Barrie stop will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8 beginning at 5:30 p.m. It will be held at the Simcoe County Elementary Teachers' Federation offices at 351 King St., Unit 3, in the city's south end.

The tour also made a recent stop in Sudbury.

"This is a big road trip," said Jessica Montgomery, president of the Sudbury and District Labour Council, said during a stop in the Nickel City. "The objective is to see and hear about the issues in our communities.

"Not just labour issues. Affordability, housing costs, opiates – including in the workplace – and families with autism on wait lists for services are just some of the challenges," Montgomery added.

The tour wraps up Thursday, Oct. 10 in Mississauga.
