A 55-year-old Bradford man is in serious condition at hospital after being struck and dragged about 500 metres under a pick up truck Sunday afternoon.
South Simcoe Police credit passersby with saving the man, after they alerted the truck driver of the situation.
The man was crossing Holland Street West at Melbourne Drive when he was hit by the pick up truck as it made a right turn. Police say he clung to the vehicle and was able to hold on for almost 500 metres before the truck was stopped on Miller Park Avenue at Magani Avenue.
Rescue workers pulled the man out from under the truck and he was transported by ambulance to hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
His injuries are not considered life threatening.
The driver of the pick up was interviewed at the police station and is co-operating with investigators. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the
collision.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Police Constable Ashley Fairbarn at 905-775-3311, extension 2034.
Area streets were closed for the investigation, and are expected to reopen around 9 p.m.
