Barrie Police have located a cell phone that may be linked to Monday's broad-daylight home invasion and shooting.

Officers spent the day Tuesday searching ditches along Highway 400 near the Walmart plaza off Mapleview.

"The search team located a cell phone and further forensic examination is required to determine if it is related to the Gunn Street incident," said Const. Nicole Rodgers.

The search in Barrie's south end was prompted by information obtained during the initial investigation, Rodgers said.

A 60-year-old man is in stable condition in hospital after being wounded during the home invasion around 10:30 a.m.

Police are looking for two suspects believed to be armed with a gun.

The first suspect is described as male, black, between 20 - 30 years old, 5'8" to 5'9", wearing dark clothing and a grey and white striped hoodie.

The second suspect is described as a male, black, 6', wearing dark clothing and a dark hoodie.

Police said the home invasion was a 'targeted' incident.
