The Fresh Food Weekly, a food security program run by VanDyck Foundation, is hosting a raffle draw fundraiser to raffle off a signed John Tavares jersey in a display case.
The jersey was provided by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE).
"I'm a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs," Leah Dyck, the founder of the Fresh Food Weekly, says in a news release. "So when MLSE offered to donate a signed jersey of the Leafs' captain for us to use in a fundraiser, I was absolutely thrilled."
The fundraiser takes place from April 18 until May 8 and has an entry fee of $10 for one ticket and $20 for three tickets.
The signed jersey will be showcased at the Barrie Chrysler dealership, located at 395 Dunlop St. W., during the first week of the fundraiser. It will then rotate between the various Star Buds Cannabis Co. stores in Barrie and Innisfil to encourage people to enter the raffle.
The money raised at the raffle will be used to purchase fresh food in bulk for low-income families living in Barrie and Innisfil, according to the Fresh Food Weekly.
"I hope to see Barrie residents step up and participate in this amazing fundraiser," Barrie Mayor Alex Nuttall said in the release. "Leah has dedicated so much of her time to ensure families in our community are provided with nutritious meals, and this fundraising initiative is not only timely (Go Leafs Go!) but has the potential to raise a lot of money to feed a lot of families."
