Partially submerged vehicle leads to impaired charge

RAMARA TOWNSHIP – On Aug. 27, 2016 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision in Lagoon City, Ramara Township.

Police arrived and located the driver and his passenger outside of the vehicle.

The vehicle was partially submerged in the canal near South Island Trail in Lagoon City.

The driver was arrested and has been charged with alcohol related offences.

Paul Mournahan, age 26 of Bracebridge has been charged with having Care and Control While Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol.

He was held in custody until sober and was released with a future court date of Sept. 13, 2016 in Orillia.
