The Women and Children Shelter of Barrie is proud to announce that the 2024 Barrie Police Chief’s Gala, held on Nov. 22 at Liberty North, raised over $70,000 for the Women and Children’s Shelter of Barrie.
The event saw more than 150 guests come together for an inspiring evening of community support, live entertainment, and heartfelt stories from survivors of domestic violence.
The gala, a highlight in Barrie’s charitable calendar, was a resounding success, with guests enjoying a delicious dinner, participating in a silent auction and 50/50 raffle, and learning about the critical work of the Women and Children’s Shelter.
The funds raised will directly support the shelter’s emergency and second-stage services for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
Chief Rich Johnston expressed his gratitude for the event’s success, saying, “I was deeply honoured to host this year’s Chief’s Gala in support of the Women and Children’s Shelter of Barrie. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and donated to this cause. The funds raised will help ensure that victims of domestic violence receive the care, support, and safety they need to bring light to their darkest times. This event is a testament to the strength of our community and our collective commitment to making a positive impact.”
The evening featured touching survivor stories that highlighted the importance of providing safe spaces for those in need. In addition to raising funds, the event was an opportunity to foster awareness and unity around the ongoing fight against domestic violence in the region.
With the support of local businesses, sponsors, and individual donors, the 2024 Chief’s Gala exceeded expectations, demonstrating the power of community collaboration to create lasting change.
