Police say driver smashed into parked cars, then reported to the detachment

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH - On Jan. 22, 2017, at approximately 5:30 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), received a report of a possible impaired driver.

Initial details were that a grey coloured Jeep had damaged several vehicles in a parking lot on King Street in Alliston and then left the scene.

Officers attended the scene where they observed four vehicles which had been damaged by the suspected vehicle.

A short time later, officers received a message that a male person was at the Nottawasaga Detachment, reporting that he was intoxicated and wanted to turn himself in.

Sukami Mupangilay, age 19 years, of Alliston, was arrested and charged in connection with this incident. He is charged with impaired driving, drive with over 80mg of alcohol in blood, take motor vehicle without owner’s consent and fail to stop following a collision.  

Subject was later released on a Promise to Appear and will make a Court appearance on Feb. 23, 2017, in Bradford.
