RONA will hold a "board-cutting ceremony" this morning to mark the reopening of a new store on Bryne Drive.
The former Lowe's location, near Essa Road at 71 Bryne Dr., has been rebranded as a RONA+ store.
On hand for the event will be local employees as well as members of RONA’s leadership team, representatives from the Home Sweet Home local partner, and area dignitaries.
"The conversion of the former Lowe’s store to the brand-new RONA+ banner is part of a wider plan aimed at redefining how Canadians shop for home improvement and represents a significant local investment," the company said in a release. "Through this process, the company is looking to build on the strong legacy of the RONA brand and build momentum for this beloved Canadian-operated household name.
From Thursday, Sept. 21 until Monday, Sept. 25, the company says the Barrie store will host activities to celebrate the grand opening of the store, including kids’ workshops, food and entertainment on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursday's board-cutting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., including RONA+ Barrie store manager Michael Haney, vice-president of distribution and logistics Véronique Paris, Deb James from the Women and Children’s Centre of Barrie, and Sarah-Jane Taylor on behalf of Barrie-Innisfil MP John Brassard.
RONA operates or services some 425 corporate and affiliated dealer stores under the Lowe’s, RONA+, RONA, Réno-Dépôt, and Dick’s Lumber banners.
